Are these robots future of mankind?

A new robot has been made which is said to be the first robot which can transform it's shape according to the task given to it.

This bot has been said to be consisting of wheeled, cubic "modules" that are joined with one another using magnets that forms a body like structure of robot which can transform it's shape even into cars and snakes.The brain of the robot constitute of a camera ,specially equipped elements and a small computer to map it's path and environment and act accordingly.

Unlike the many robots out there,these robot can take it's own decision without human direction and can also decide by itself when and how to change it's shape to complete a task given.

Mechanical engineer and roboticist Tarik Tosun,who is currently doing research in the University of Pinnsylvania along with his colleagues did several tests on this robot in different environment conditions and it passed all the tests.

If such robots are made in huge amount then it can really prove to be benificial for mankind and can be helpful in many ways.
